Succulence Blog Tour Tutu Skirt and Hair Bows

Today is the day. The day I get to share with you what I created for the Succulence Blog Tour for Bonnie Christine from Going Home to Roost, and Art Gallery Fabrics! I am a huge fan of Bonnie’s work, and took every class she created on skillshare for surface pattern design.

Since my daughter was born, I wanted to create something special for her, but just never had the time to get out my sewing machine. So, when Bonnie asked me to do the Succulence Blog Tour, I knew it was the perfect time to create something very special for my daughter with the gorgeous fabrics from her new Succulence collection.

My daughter is very much into dance and ballet, so she asked me to make her a tutu! This did not surprise me at all, since she asked for a tutu for Christmas (and of course we obliged). We went to the local craft store and got bright pink tulle (you must have tulle for a tutu - I think it is written in some dance bylaws somewhere), and also some matching decorative elastic for the waistband.

Then, I went to work making her tutu. I forgot how much fun sewing can be, and enjoyed every minute of working on this project!

Here is the finished tutu skirt! My little girl loves it and was even dancing during the photo shoot. But I managed to get a few still pictures.

She loves the tutu skirt, and I think it will go nicely with a colorful t-shirt too for everyday wear.

I also wanted to make her some matching hair bows with the Succulence fabrics.

I made 3 different styles out of the fabrics and attached clips with hot glue.

You can download the templates I used for the hair clips below and make your own!

You can order the Succulence fabrics to use in your projects at A Stitch in Time.

It was so special to me to participate in this blog tour, and create something memorable for my daughter with Bonnie’s fabrics. Thank you so much for selecting me to do this tour! It was so much fun. I want to thank all of you who are following along with the tour. I hope we have inspired you to create something beautiful to delight someone you love or for yourself.

I also want to thank my grandmother for teaching me how to sew when I was a child. They are very special memories I have of her, and a skill I am thankful she gave me.

You can see Staci Barrett’s project from the day before at her blog Vintage Fairytale, and the next stop on the tour is Sahnda Black’s project on their blog Sahnda Marie.
